Four Stars
About This Machine
The Four Stars pinball machine, crafted by D. Gottlieb & Company in June 1952, is a classic example of early-1950s electro-mechanical (EM) design. Designed by Wayne Neyens with artwork by Roy Parker, it was produced in a confirmed run of 950 units and is a rerun of Gottlieb's 1952 'Quartette'.
Four Stars' gameplay is built around its four flippers: the left flipper button operates the left pair and the right button the right pair, giving players coverage across the lower playfield. Four pop bumpers and four trap holes round out the layout, adding challenge and scoring variety. The machine's art and design reflect a 1950s aesthetic, with Roy Parker's artwork centered on the 'Girls - Women' theme popular in Gottlieb games of the time.
Wayne Neyens' design for Four Stars shows the tidy, well-balanced layouts he was known for, and as a Neyens/Parker collaboration from Gottlieb's golden early-1950s period, it remains an appealing piece for collectors of woodrail-era pinball.
