Official
About This Machine
Official is a single-player pin game manufactured by the Mills Novelty Company in June 1932. Mills Novelty of Chicago was one of America's oldest and largest coin-machine makers, long famous for its slot machines and vending equipment, and it joined the pin-game boom that exploded in the early 1930s.
Dating to 1932, Official predates the flipper era. Its gameplay was built around a spring plunger that propelled a ball across an inclined playfield of pins and scoring holes, without powered flippers or an electronic display. Games like this were cheap to produce and quick to play, which made them a Depression-era phenomenon in taverns, drugstores, and arcades.
The machine is recorded in the Pinside database and is not yet catalogued on the Internet Pinball Database, so detailed production and design information is limited.
