Master Playboy
About This Machine
Master Playboy is a single-player pin game made by D. Gottlieb & Co. in 1932. The Chicago firm, founded by David Gottlieb in 1927, had just entered the pin-game business and would go on to become one of the most important names in the industry for the rest of the twentieth century. In 1931 Gottlieb scored a major early success with the countertop game Baffle Ball, and Master Playboy followed during the frenzied 1932 boom in coin-operated ball games.
As an early-1930s machine, Master Playboy predates the flipper era. Play relied on a spring plunger to shoot a ball across an inclined, pin-studded playfield, where the ball settled into scoring pockets; there were no flippers and no electronic score display.
The game is listed in the Pinside database and has not yet been added to the Internet Pinball Database, so full design details are not documented.
