World's Fair Jigsaw
About This Machine
World's Fair Jigsaw is a single-player pin game produced by the Rock-Ola Manufacturing Company in 1933. Rock-Ola, the Chicago company founded by David C. Rockola, was one of the leading amusement manufacturers of the era, and 1933 was a landmark year for coin-operated pin games during the Depression.
Because it dates to 1933, the game predates the invention of the flipper. Players launched a ball with a spring plunger onto an inclined playfield studded with pins and scoring holes, with no powered flippers or electronic scoring. The Pinside listing reports a very large production run of approximately 70,000 units, a figure consistent with the extraordinary commercial appetite for inexpensive pin games in the early 1930s.
The machine is documented in the Pinside database and is not yet catalogued on the Internet Pinball Database, so detailed design and theming records remain limited.
