About This Machine
Big Bank Night is an electro-mechanical pin game produced by the Rock-Ola Manufacturing Company in August 1936. Its name plays on the popular "Bank Night" cinema lottery promotions that swept Depression-era America, and it comes from the mid-1930s era when many coin-operated pin games doubled as gambling devices.
As a flipperless machine, Big Bank Night used a lit backglass and the ball's roll into scoring pockets to determine results. Rock-Ola of Chicago was a major manufacturer of the period, later far better known for the jukeboxes that would carry its name into legend.
