About This Machine

Majors of '49 is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine released by the Chicago Coin Machine Mfg. Co. in February 1949, with a production run of roughly 1,500 units. As its name suggests, the game rides on a baseball theme, tapping America's love of the national pastime during the postwar boom in coin-operated amusements.

Like other woodrail games of the period, Majors of '49 used an illuminated backglass to track scoring and progress. It arrived just as the flipper was transforming pinball, and it stands as one of the many sports-themed titles Chicago Coin turned out during its prolific late-1940s run.
