About This Machine
Gilligan's Island is a solid-state pinball machine produced by Bally Manufacturing Co. in 1991, with manufacturing dated to April of that year. Licensed from the classic 1960s television sitcom, it invited players to join the castaways stranded on their tropical island. The game was built on the Williams WPC platform and featured a dot-matrix display, a relatively new technology at the time that allowed for animated scenes and scoring.
A four-player game, Gilligan's Island offered a pair of flippers, a ramp, and multiball play. Bally produced roughly 4,100 units, making it a solidly distributed title of the early WPC generation and a familiar sight in arcades and route locations of the period.
