The Who's Tommy Pinball Wizard

The Who's Tommy Pinball Wizard is a solid-state pinball machine produced by Data East USA, Inc. in February 1994, themed on The Who's rock opera Tommy and its story of a 'pinball wizard.' Running on Data East's Version 3 hardware, it is a four-player game with a dot matrix display, three flippers, two ramps, and multiball, set to music and imagery drawn from the Tommy production.

Data East built roughly 2,700 units of The Who's Tommy Pinball Wizard. The tie-in between the machine and Tommy's iconic pinball-playing protagonist made it one of the more thematically fitting music licenses of the era, and it remains a recognizable title from Data East's 1994 catalog.
