Alien (Heighway Pinball)

Alien is a solid state machine released by the British manufacturer Heighway Pinball in February 2017. Built around the science-fiction horror franchise of the same name, it stands out for its unusual engineering: a low, flat cabinet and a fully modular design intended to let operators swap the playfield and artwork to convert the machine to a different title. A widescreen LCD is mounted flush in the playfield itself rather than only in the backbox, feeding the player video and score information from within the play area.

The game is a four-player machine notable for its unconventional layout, including four flippers and a six-ball multiball. Roughly 185 units were produced at a launch price of around $7,500, making it one of the rarer boutique machines of its era. Because production numbers stayed low and the company had a short lifespan, surviving examples are prized among collectors of modern limited-run pinball.
