Willy's Wonderland

Willy's Wonderland is a one-of-a-kind custom pinball machine completed in February 2021. It is a re-theme built on vintage Gottlieb System 80A hardware, pairing early-1980s solid-state electronics and an alphanumeric display with entirely new artwork, and it shares its name with the 2021 horror-comedy film in which Nicolas Cage battles murderous animatronic mascots.

As a conversion of an existing 1980s game, the machine retains a classic three-flipper layout for up to four players, with a rule set that includes multiball. Only a single example was produced.

Re-themes like this one represent a thriving corner of the hobby, where builders give tired old machines a second life with fresh art packages and updated theming drawn from modern pop culture.
