About This Machine

Flipper Foxtrot Rhythm Explosion, released in January 2022 by For Amusement Only Games, LLC, is one of the more inventive ideas to hit modern pinball: a rhythm-action game for Multimorphic's P3 Pinball Platform. Sold as an add-on software kit for $150 rather than a full machine, it was created by Nick Baldridge, the designer behind Ranger In The Ruins and co-designer of Silver Falls.

The concept borrows from music games: players match button presses to guides scrolling across the P3's playfield screen, with tighter timing earning higher scores. Miss a note, though, and a ball launches into play -- the player must return it to an indicated shot (or drain it) to get back to the rhythm action. A health bar rises and falls with performance, and losing all health ends the song.

The kit shipped with a library of songs spanning neo-classical, pop, and chiptune styles, each playable at five difficulty levels with unique note patterns, plus optional difficulty modifiers per player profile. It requires the Cannon Lagoon playfield module to run, and stands as a showcase of how the P3's software-driven design allows experiences no conventional pinball machine could offer.
