E.T. the Extra Terrestrial

This E.T. the Extra Terrestrial pinball machine is a one-of-a-kind home-brew creation built by Matt Malone and completed in November 2022. Themed after Steven Spielberg's beloved 1982 film, it is a single-player game, and only one unit was ever produced.

What makes this build especially unusual is its construction: rather than the modern solid-state route most home-brew builders take, it is an electro-mechanical (EM) machine -- a genuine rarity for a 21st-century custom project. Despite the vintage technology, the design is ambitious, sporting five flippers, a ramp, and two multiball modes, a feature set that would have been extraordinary on any EM game of the classic era.

As a home-brew one-off catalogued from the Pinside machine database, it stands as a labor of love rather than a commercial product, and a testament to the creativity of the hobbyist pinball-building community.
