Whirlwind 2.0 Total Chaos

Whirlwind 2.0 Total Chaos is a licensed "2.0" upgrade kit from Italian company Pedretti Gaming, released in May 2023, that transforms Williams' classic 1990 Whirlwind into an essentially new game. Rather than a standalone machine, the add-on kit installs into an existing Whirlwind, replacing the original electronics with a FAST Pinball control system, new controller boards, and a speaker/display panel housing a full-color LCD monitor in place of the original displays.

The kit brings completely rewritten software with a whole new storyline built around the storm and its toxic effects, including attempts to repair the Storm Blasters van before finally defeating the storm. The new rule set adds multiple player-selectable modes, a video mode, two mini-wizard modes, and a full wizard mode, all backed by new music and custom animations on the LCD. The package also includes a new backglass and interior cabinet decals to complete the visual overhaul.

Importantly, owners lose nothing in the conversion: from the menu, players can choose to play the original Whirlwind, with the color screen emulating the game's original displays. Total Chaos is part of the growing wave of officially licensed 2.0 remasters modernizing beloved Bally/Williams titles from the early 1990s.
