Hellraiser
About This Machine
Hellraiser is a custom-built horror pinball machine completed by hobbyist builder Clint Jarrett in November 2024. Rather than a from-scratch design, it is a full re-theme of an existing solid-state game (Gottlieb's 1982 Devil's Dare), rebuilt around Clive Barker's Hellraiser mythos with all-new artwork by illustrator Brian Allen featuring Pinhead, Chatterer, The Engineer, and Kirsty. The new art was printed directly onto the wood playfield and clear-coated.
The game is a four-player, solid-state machine with an alphanumeric display, three flippers, and three multiball modes. Its signature toy is a functional Lament Configuration - a mechanically transforming puzzle box at the heart of the playfield - supported by a custom wireform habitrail system with a new up-kicker mechanism, a modified ball lock, a shaker effect, and custom speech.
As a one-off custom build shown at pinball events such as Free Play Florida 2024, Hellraiser is not a commercial release, but it stands as a striking example of how far the homebrew re-theme scene has pushed the craft.
