About This Machine

Blues Brothers is a 2024 release from Homepin, the budget-focused manufacturer founded by Mike Kalinowski, themed around the beloved 1980 musical comedy film starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. Priced at an accessible $4,950, the game is aimed squarely at casual players and home buyers rather than the high-end collector market.

The machine is a four-player solid state design with two flippers, a three-ball multiball, and classic digital score displays rather than a modern video screen, giving it a decidedly old-school character. The layout draws inspiration from late-1970s pinball design, dressed up with imagery and music from the film's world of soul, blues and calamitous car chases.

Blues Brothers' most distinctive contribution to the hobby is its open source software approach: owners are encouraged to modify the game's code, share rule changes on a dedicated forum, and load community-tested software versions onto their machines. An early prototype debuted in Taipei in April 2024 before production machines began shipping later that year, making it one of the more unconventional boutique releases of its generation.
