Barry O's BBQ Challenge (Limited Edition)

Barry O's BBQ Challenge (Limited Edition) is the premium version of American Pinball's 2024 tribute to legendary designer Barry Oursler, limited to just 100 numbered units. Oursler, whose credits include some of the most beloved games of the solid state era, had joined American Pinball shortly before his passing in February 2022, and this machine was built from the barbecue-themed playfield design he began there, honoring his love of grilling and the outdoors.

The Limited Edition shares its gameplay with the Classic version: a four-player solid state game with an intentionally retro, 1980s-flavored layout that emphasizes fast, clean shooting through a backyard cookout challenge. Where it differs is in the dress-up, adding exclusive upgraded trim and features over the standard model.

Released in March 2024 at an MSRP of $8,495, all 100 units of the Limited Edition were produced, making it one of the scarcer modern American Pinball offerings and a fitting collector's memorial to one of pinball's most prolific designers.
