About This Machine

Winchester Mystery House is the third title from boutique manufacturer Barrels of Fun, released in October 2025 and themed around the real Gothic-style mansion in San Jose, California - a sprawling architectural curiosity famous for its stairways to nowhere and the many myths and legends surrounding the Winchester family. The game runs on the FAST Pinball control system.

It marks the game design debut of Karl DeAngelo, one of the world's top competitive players and the organizer of major tournaments through his IE Pinball operation, who joined Barrels of Fun as a designer. Artwork comes from Brad Albright, who previously created the art package for Multimorphic's Portal.

The playfield leans into the mansion's haunted reputation with genuinely novel mechanisms: a Ghost Box using a Pepper's Ghost illusion to make spirits appear and interact with the ball, a tower that collapses - referencing the 1906 earthquake that destroyed the real house's tower - to reveal a hidden ball path, and a revolving hallway turntable offering three entrances and eight rotational positions for multiple ball-path combinations. Five high-fidelity custom sculpts of the house's architecture, four flippers, and four ramps complete the package.

Winchester Mystery House was offered in a single model at an MSRP of $11,600, with the run reported as limited to 525 copies - about half the size of a typical Barrels of Fun production.
