About This Machine

Dune is the second release from boutique manufacturer Barrels of Fun, launched in April 2025 in official collaboration with Legendary Entertainment and based on Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed film adaptations. Limited to a total production run of 1,000 machines at an MSRP of $11,600, the four-player game runs on the FAST Pinball control system and brings the world of Arrakis to life in striking detail.

The machine was designed by David Van Es and Travis Mosemen, with code by Eric Priepke, rules by Bowen Kerins and Phil Grimaldi, and artwork by Jonathan Bergeron. The playfield is loaded with toys, including a sandworm that rises from the playfield to "eat" the ball, a spice Harvester with a moving cockpit, and a working thumper. In one of pinball's more daring mechanics, the Gom Jabbar-inspired pain box emerges during a ball-save sequence and forces the player to make a shot one-handed to keep playing.

A signature innovation is the HAL (Horizon Atmospheric Lighting) system, a full array of RGBW inner-cabinet LEDs that shifts the entire machine through immersive day and night moods of Arrakis in real time. The package is rounded out by four ramps, up to six-ball multiball, a shaker motor, a second display at the back of the playfield, and a moving topper that mirrors the in-game time of day.
