Fleet
About This Machine
Fleet, produced by Bally Manufacturing Corporation in July 1938, is a flipperless electro-mechanical game from the pre-war era of pinball. Carrying model number 243, it is a single-player game built around a Naval Warfare theme.
Gameplay followed the popular formula of the day: 5 balls for 5 cents, with ten scoring bumpers on the playfield providing the game's scoring action. Like other flipperless games of its era, play centered on the skillful launch of each ball and a bit of judicious nudging.
An interesting footnote for collectors: what appears to be an identical game was also produced by Bally in 1938 under the name 'Squadron'. Note that Bally reused the Fleet name more than once - this 1938 game is distinct from Bally's 1940 'Fleet' and the 1934 'Fleet Jr.' and 'Fleet Sr.'
