About This Machine

Fast Draw, designed by Ed Krynski with artwork by Gordon Morison, was manufactured by Gottlieb in April 1975. This four-player electro-mechanical game with a classic American West theme was a substantial hit, with a confirmed production run of 8,282 units, and the two-player version of the same design was released as 1975's Quick Draw.

The playfield offers two flippers, three pop bumpers, four standup targets, two kick-out holes, and dual inlanes; notably, the game has no slingshots. Its signature feature is a pair of five-bank drop targets with a clever trip-arm mechanism: clearing all ten targets during a ball resets them and immediately trips the eight yellow targets back down, leaving only the two center black targets standing, each worth 5,000 points. Dropping both black targets resets and re-trips the banks again, and the pattern repeats until the ball ends, creating a rewarding rhythm for accurate shooters. An end-of-ball bonus collects accumulated value, the score reels display up to 99,990 points per player, and the replay wheel counts up to 9 replays.

The cabinet's half-moon credit window and Morison's striking Western artwork give the game an elegant period look. With its challenging drop-target logic and generous production run, Fast Draw has earned a place as a beloved classic among electro-mechanical pinball enthusiasts.

Dropping both black targets resets all ten targets then again trips the eight yellow ones to leave only the black targets for 5000 points, and this pattern will repeat until the end of the ball in play. All ten targets reset at start of next ball with none tripped.
