Animated
About This Machine
Animated is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine produced by the Stoner Manufacturing Company of Aurora, Illinois in February 1940. Stoner was one of the many Illinois coin machine builders active during pinball's pre-war boom, manufacturing games from 1933 until 1941.
Very little documentation survives about this game. Built in the flipperless era, seven years before flippers were introduced to pinball, Animated would have relied on plunger skill and the electro-mechanical scoring features common to games of its day. Its name suggests some form of animated feature, but no details of its playfield, artwork, or theme have been recorded.
As one of the last games Stoner produced before wartime restrictions ended the company's run, Animated remains an obscure but genuine piece of early pinball history, offering a small window into the industry's formative pre-war years.
