Fair Fight
About This Machine
Fair Fight, a 1978 solid-state electronic pinball machine from Recel S.A. of Madrid, comes from one of the several Spanish manufacturers that made Spain a significant pinball-producing country in the 1970s. Recel was the name the company used for its export games; the same machine was sold domestically as Petaco's 'Fair Fight'.
The four-player game runs on the Recel System III MPU, the company's own custom design based on the Rockwell PPS4 chipset - the same chipset family used in early Gottlieb solid-state machines - and not compatible with any other manufacturer's boards. The playfield offers two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, two spinning targets, and two swivel targets, wrapped in a Medieval Battle theme.
For collectors, Fair Fight is an interesting window into the Spanish solid-state scene of the late 1970s, when European manufacturers were building their own electronics platforms rather than licensing American ones.
