E-Z Aces
About This Machine
E-Z Aces, manufactured by the Hamilton Machine Co., Inc. (a subsidiary of Hamilton Manufacturing Company of Minneapolis, one of the world's largest salesboard makers) in April 1933, is an unusual early coin-operated payout machine with a playing-card theme. It is the only known game produced by this company, which otherwise specialized in salesboards, and at the time it was considered too highly priced to be competitive.
The game's central novelty is its circular playfield: the player turns a crank in either direction, fast or slow, to move the 19 1/2-inch turntable forward or backward. It was advertised as playable by any number of people or alone, and offered 5 balls for 5 cents. The cabinet measured 42 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 38 1/2 inches high.
As a one-off from a salesboard manufacturer testing the coin machine market during pinball's earliest boom years, E-Z Aces is a curious footnote in the industry's history.
