About This Machine

The Eight Ball Deluxe Limited Edition is a sought-after variant of the iconic 1981 Bally game Eight Ball Deluxe, one of the most popular pinball machines of its time. Designed by George Christian with artwork by Margaret Hudson, this version uses the same playfield as the 1981 original but packages it in a distinctive new cabinet. Notably, it was one of three games to use the unique smaller backboxes left over from the production of Bally's 1982 Rapid Fire, with the score displays mounted separately.

Gameplay-wise, the Eight Ball Deluxe Limited Edition boasts the same challenging billiards-themed layout that made the original a hit. With three flippers, three pop bumpers, and a kick-out hole, the machine demands precision and strategy from its players, while the 7-bank of drop targets, the 4-in-line drop targets, and a stand-alone drop target reward careful shot planning and timing.

What sets this edition apart visually is its distinct cabinet art in a bold gold, black, and red color scheme, along with a black apron showing the Bally name and a coin door sticker indicating Bally Midway rather than just Bally. With a confirmed production run of 2,388 units — far fewer than the original's 8,250 — the Limited Edition remains a coveted addition to any serious pinball collector's lineup.
