About This Machine

Dreamy, manufactured by the Williams Manufacturing Company beginning February 27, 1950, is a single-player electro-mechanical game from the early flipper era. It was designed by Harry Williams, the company's founder and one of the most influential figures in pinball history, with artwork by George Molentin.

Dreamy features two flippers, still a relatively new invention at the time, along with two pop bumpers and three kick-out holes that provide the main scoring action. The game has a notable tilt arrangement: the tilt penalty is only the ball in play, and the tilt is reset when the ball passes through a rollunder wire at the bottom of the playfield below the flippers. The number of replays earned is displayed through a small window in the upper right corner of the backglass, and the game's sounds come from three bells.

As a product of Williams' early years, Dreamy offers a snapshot of pinball design at mid-century, when flippers, bells, and replay windows defined the state of the art.
