Double Nugget
About This Machine
Double Nugget is a single-player electro-mechanical machine produced in May 1936 by the Les Tasken Company of Indianapolis, Indiana. Unlike the big Chicago manufacturers that dominated the coin machine trade, Les Tasken was a small operation active only in 1936, which makes any of its games an unusual footnote in pinball history.
Almost nothing is documented about Double Nugget beyond its basic specifications: no designer, features, theme, or artwork are recorded in the Internet Pinball Database. Its "nugget" name suggests the gold-mining motifs popular on amusement machines of the period, but this is not confirmed by any surviving documentation.
For collectors and historians, Double Nugget's interest lies less in its gameplay than in its provenance: it is a rare trace of one of the many short-lived regional manufacturers that tried their hand at the booming coin machine business of the mid-1930s and quickly disappeared.
