Double Feature
About This Machine
Double Feature is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine released by Bally in May 1948. It arrived during a genuinely transitional moment for the industry: player-controlled flippers had been introduced only months earlier, in late 1947, and manufacturers were rapidly rethinking playfield design around this new element of player skill.
Very little documentation survives about this particular machine's features, layout, or artwork, and the Internet Pinball Database records no designer, production figures, or notable features for it. It shares its name with, but is unrelated to, an earlier 1939 Bally game.
As an obscure entry from Bally's busy post-war catalog, Double Feature offers a glimpse into a period when the company was releasing new titles at a rapid pace and pinball was evolving quickly toward the flipper-driven game we know today.
