About This Machine
Venom, the 2023 premium release from Stern Pinball, brings a licensed comics and fantasy theme to the company's modern pinball lineup. Designed by Brian Eddy, Venom offers gameplay that leverages the Stern SPIKE 2 system and a range of mechanical features.
At its core, Venom features six active pinballs, each contributing to the multiball mode. Players will encounter a variety of obstacles, including five standup targets, a VUK, and a captive ball, all working together to challenge players. The inclusion of a Newton Ball Post adds a distinctive interaction affecting ball trajectory. The Premium edition also adds a Doppelganger sculpture alongside the bell tower with a real bell and Carnage sculpture found on the Pro model.
The game's dark, gritty art style, by artist Jeremy Packer, complements its comic book theme. A powder-coated black wrinkle finish adorns the machine's exterior, along with a powder-coated steel bottom arch, while translite art replaces the traditional backglass. Stereo sound rounds out the package. The Venom (Premium) carried an MSRP of $9,699 when new.
