Retro Spa
About This Machine
The Retro Spa is a one-off custom conversion: a narrow-body adaptation of Bally's 1979 widebody game 'Future Spa', re-themed around fitness, fantasy, and relaxation. As a re-themed game rather than a factory original, only a single unit is known to exist.
Because it's built on the Future Spa platform, its gameplay carries that game's hardware: two flippers, five pop bumpers, one slingshot, two spinning targets, a kick-out hole, a star rollover, a 4-in-line drop target bank, and a left outlane detour gate, with the ball shooter lane positioned on the left side of the playfield.
While the identity of who built this conversion and exactly when isn't documented, the Retro Spa is a notable example of a fan or operator re-theme project, taking a well-regarded late-1970s Bally widebody and reworking it into a narrower cabinet with new art and presentation.
