About This Machine
Mountain Climber is an electro-mechanical 'upright' payout device — a 'flasher type' slot machine, not a pinball machine — manufactured by J. H. Keeney and Company of Chicago. Per The Cash Box (January 29, 1966), it was the successor to Keeney's earlier 'Super Blue Spot.'
Its theme centers on mountain climbing, and it includes Keeney's Panascope feature, though the exact function of that mechanism is not documented. No confirmed production date survives.
This game should not be confused with a different upright machine of the same name, which instead has two backglasses with different artwork, seven colorful player buttons along the cabinet front, and four score reels rather than a Panascope.
