Dolphin

The Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company's 1974 Electro-Mechanical (EM) masterpiece, Dolphin, is a significant addition to any serious pinball collection. As one of the company's later productions before its eventual closure in 1977, this machine showcases the evolving design and gameplay innovations of the era. Its unique combination of electro-mechanical components and challenging gameplay characteristics make it a true gem for collectors and enthusiasts.

Dolphin's key features include two flippers, two pop bumpers, and two slingshots, which provide an engaging and dynamic experience for players. The machine also boasts seven rollover buttons and three captive balls, adding a layer of strategy to the game. Pocketing the captive balls awards an extra ball, while completing the end-of-ball bonus offers an added challenge. The sound effects are simple yet effective, with chimes providing an immersive atmosphere.

The aquatic park theme is tastefully executed through vibrant artwork and colorful graphics, transporting players to a serene underwater world. Interestingly, little is known about the designers, Albin Peters and Wendell McAdams, or their inspirations behind this unique machine. Nonetheless, Dolphin's design and gameplay have undoubtedly stood the test of time, making it a must-have for serious pinball enthusiasts and collectors seeking an authentic 1970s experience.
