Jumbo '60
About This Machine
Jumbo, commonly referred to as "Jumbo '60" based on its backglass, was manufactured by Bally in May 1960 as a return to production of their 1959 Jumbo game. Like its predecessor, it is not a pinball machine but an "electronic upright" — a flasher-type slot machine that increments a credit meter rather than paying out cash. It carries a Circus/Carnival theme and is a single-player game.
Bally announced the game's return to production in Cash Box on May 21, 1960. This 1960 version does not appear in Bally's official list of model numbers for that year, and the flyer that documents it shows a push-button console; it is not known whether a handle-operated version was also produced, as had been the case with the original 1959 Jumbo.
The cabinet was advertised at 57 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 17.5 inches deep. Details of its specific artwork and designer are not documented beyond its relationship to the earlier Jumbo models.
