About This Machine

Big 3 was manufactured by J. H. Keeney and Company of Chicago in June 1959. It is not a pinball machine but an "electronic upright," also called a "flasher type" slot machine — it does not pay out cash, instead incrementing a credit meter to allow continued play. The game supports three players and could accept nickels, dimes, and quarters, configurable by the operator for either single-coin or multiple-coin play.

Big 3 carries a Circus/Carnival theme, though specific details about its artwork are not documented. Its cabinet was advertised at 22 inches wide, with no other dimensions given in surviving records. Keeney announced the game in Cash Box magazine on June 6, 1959.

Little else is known about Big 3's design or the individuals who created it, but it remains a documented example of Keeney's line of electronic upright coin machines from the late 1950s.
