Deluxe Red Arrow
About This Machine
The Deluxe Red Arrow, made by J. H. Keeney and Company Incorporated and announced in June 1960, is not a pinball machine but an "electronic upright" or "flasher type" device. Like others in its family, it does not pay out cash — a credit meter increments instead to allow continued play.
One of its notable features is adjustable coin play: operators could set it to accept 5-cent, 10-cent, or 25-cent coins, and it supported 7-coin multiple play. It also carried the Panascope display used across several Keeney upright models of the period. The cabinet, distinguished by tapered legs, was advertised at 59 inches high, 30 inches wide, and 18 inches deep, weighing 155 pounds.
Detailed production records and designer information are scarce, as is typical for this class of coin-operated device, but the Deluxe Red Arrow's adjustable pricing and multi-coin play mark it as a slightly more elaborate follow-up to the standard Red Arrow.
