American Beauty Senior Deluxe
About This Machine
The American Beauty Senior Deluxe, made by Daval Manufacturing Co. of Chicago in May 1934, continued the production line of G.B. Daval Company Inc.'s 'American Beauty Senior De Luxe,' itself a continuation of Gee Bee Manufacturing Company's original 1934 'American Beauty (Senior).' Designed by Ralph Fletcher, this electro-mechanical machine represents the final stage of a rapid three-company production handoff that occurred within 1934 alone.
As a continuation of the earlier Senior De Luxe games, this version should also have featured the exclusive "concealed automatic pay-off register" for location payout advertised for its predecessor, though no images of this device on this particular game are known to survive.
The cabinet was advertised at 41 inches long by 19 inches wide, consistent with the earlier games in this lineage. Little else is documented about this machine's specific gameplay or artwork, but its position at the end of the American Beauty Senior production chain - after passing through Gee Bee, G.B. Daval, and finally Daval Manufacturing Co. - makes it an interesting artifact of a turbulent year in early pinball manufacturing history.
