About This Machine

Cosmic Carnival is a solid-state pinball machine from Suncoast Pinball of Largo, Florida, first shipped in June 2019. It was the only machine ever produced by this short-lived manufacturer, which announced it was shutting down pinball production just a few months later in September 2019 -- making it a notable curiosity from the late-2010s pinball manufacturing boom. Reported production numbers vary, with estimates ranging from around 25 to 100 units built.

The game's fantasy-monster theme is brought to life with artwork by Donny Gillies and software by Jimmy Lipham, and features a Ringleader sculpture with a Cosmic Clown head as its central toy. Gameplay includes three pop bumpers, two slingshots, seven standup targets, a 3-bank of drop targets, and a scoop with a vertical up-kicker, along with multiball. A distinctive skill shot challenges players to knock down two of the three drop targets within 10 seconds of the plunge to return the ball to the shooter lane, with awards that increase with each successful attempt.

Suncoast advertised that the game used an actual backglass rather than a printed translite, and it carried an MSRP of $5,995 when new. Despite its short production run, Cosmic Carnival stands as a memorable one-off from a manufacturer that came and went within a single model.
