About This Machine

The Dimension pinball machine, manufactured by D. Gottlieb & Company in January 1971, holds a genuine place in pinball's technical history: together with its export version 'Galaxie' and its replay version '2001' (the same 1971 game with different artwork), it was among the first pinball machines to feature multiple banks of drop targets. Designed by Ed Krynski with artwork by Gordon Morison, this single-player add-a-ball game saw a confirmed production run of just 490 units.

The playfield is dominated by its two 10-bank drop target arrays, supported by two flippers, two pop bumpers, four slingshots (including two in the upper playfield), six standup targets, and five kick-out holes. The maximum displayed point score is 99,990 points, giving skilled players plenty of headroom to chase.

Dimension's outer space fantasy theme, rendered by Gordon Morison, fits the early-1970s fascination with the cosmos - its replay sibling was even named '2001'. Between its pioneering drop target banks and its small production run, Dimension is a historically significant and collectible entry in Gottlieb's electro-mechanical catalog.
