Baseball (ベースボール)
About This Machine
Baseball, produced by Komaya Co., Ltd. (Komaya Seisakusho) of Kobe, Japan, is an electro-mechanical "bat game" rather than a conventional flipper pinball. Per the original flyer, it was a downsized version of a previously popular baseball game; its exact release year is not documented.
Gameplay follows real baseball's structure: hitting a ball into the center hole spins a roulette mechanism that determines whether the result is a home run, a hit, or an out, and the game ends after three outs. The scoring threshold needed to earn a replay is adjustable, letting operators tune difficulty for their location.
As a bat game rather than a flipper machine, Baseball represents a distinct branch of Japanese EM coin-op design that translated real-world sports mechanics directly into gameplay. Little else is documented about its designer or original release details, but it stands as an interesting entry in Komaya's sports-themed output alongside its later sequel, BASEBALL-2.
