Tee-Off
About This Machine
Tee-Off, produced by Standard Novelty Co. of Los Angeles starting in January 1935, continued a golf-themed pinball design originally introduced by the Co-Operative Amusement Company in 1934. As an electro-mechanical, single-player machine, it is one of the earliest known pinball games built around a golf theme, reflecting the sport's popularity at the time.
The cabinet was advertised at 44 inches long and 22 inches wide, a substantial size for the era. Based on the sole surviving advertisement, the playfield appears to have featured seven relay-fed kick-out holes served by a kicker and one or more subways, though this has not been fully confirmed.
No designer is credited for Tee-Off, and details of its cabinet artwork, production numbers, and distribution are not documented. Its age, golf theme, and connection to the earlier Co-Operative Amusement Co. release make it an interesting piece for collectors and historians studying the earliest sports-themed pinball machines.
