Hot Shots
About This Machine
Hot Shots is a solid-state electronic pinball machine that embodies the essence of a classic carnival atmosphere. Produced by VIFICO S.A., a lesser-known Spanish manufacturer active from 1985 to 1989, this game is a licensed Spanish-built copy of Premier's 1989 original, made late in VIFICO's run of Gottlieb/Premier-licensed games. Designed by Jon Norris, Hot Shots is one of the few pinball machines to feature a unique accelerator mechanism, consisting of two spinning wheels that propel the ball up a ramp to the left flipper, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement to gameplay.
Gameplay on Hot Shots is marked by its emphasis on strategic targeting and multiball action. Players can score 10 specials by hitting all four blue and all four red drop targets without touching any yellow or green ones, or vice versa. The presence of a single pop bumper and four banks of drop targets adds variety to the playfield, while the motor-powered accelerator introduces an element of unpredictability. The machine's multiball feature allows for two balls on the playfield at once, adding an extra layer of complexity and challenge.
Visually, Hot Shots is notable for its photographic translite, which captures a vibrant and colorful carnival atmosphere. While limited information exists about this game, its unique features and late-1980s solid-state design make it an intriguing piece for collectors and enthusiasts looking to expand their knowledge of pinball history.
