About This Machine

Gold Wings is a solid-state pinball machine manufactured by VIFICO S.A. of Malaga, Spain, as a licensed copy of Premier's 1986 'Gold Wings' built under arrangement with Gottlieb/Premier. Designed by John Trudeau with artwork by Don Marshall and Larry Day and software by John Buras, the game runs on a Gottlieb System 80B and carries an aviation theme.

The playfield features four flippers, four pop bumpers, eight standup targets, six rollunders, a spinning target, a ramp, a kick target, and a kick-out hole, along with a 2-ball multiball mode. A 360-degree vertical loop adds a distinctive shot to the layout, and the game notably has no outlanes. An air siren in the cabinet sounds when a player scores 500,000 points on a single shot, earns an extra ball, or achieves a replay, adding an extra sensory payoff to big plays.

With its photographic translite and aviation theme, Gold Wings showcases the kind of Gottlieb-designed, VIFICO-built games exported to Spain and other markets in the mid-1980s, offering an inventive shot layout for a four-player pinball machine.
