About This Machine

Haiti is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine from the Spanish manufacturer Talleres del Llobregat S.A. (trading as Automaticos). Its exact production year is not documented, but it is a one-player adaptation of Gottlieb's 1961 two-player machine 'Aloha,' carrying over that game's beach, boat, and travel imagery reworked into Haiti's own beach/water/world-places theme.

The playfield includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, four passive bumpers, two slingshots, two kick-out holes, and a gobble hole. Notably, the design has no outlanes and instead uses a wide flipper gap, and the backglass display tops out at a maximum score of 1,999 points.

Little is known about Haiti's specific designer or intended market, but as a Spanish-built reworking of an American Gottlieb design, it offers an interesting look at how European manufacturers of the era adapted popular U.S. pinball layouts and themes for their own markets.
