Hot Wheels™
About This Machine
Hot Wheels is American Pinball Inc.'s officially licensed Hot Wheels machine, the first pinball machine to carry the Hot Wheels brand. Released in June 2020, the solid-state game was designed by Joe Balcer, with art by Jeff Busch, dot animation by Ish Raneses, and software by Josh Kugler and Joe Schober, running on a Multimorphic P3-ROC system.
Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, 15 standup targets, two drop targets, two spinning targets, and a magnet that grabs or accelerates the ball. A vertical up-kicker propels the ball into an aerial looped track, and a free ball return lane and a mini-post below the flipper gap round out the shooting lanes. Five Hot Wheels die-cast cars decorate the playfield, including one that spins interactively high above it, and two flags top the pop bumpers.
Visually, the game centers its scoring around a single 15-inch LCD display offset to the left side of the backglass, with a full apron decal continuing the Hot Wheels branding. At its $6,295 MSRP, Hot Wheels represented American Pinball's push into licensed, toy-based theming for the modern pinball market.
