Netflix Stranger Things (Premium)
About This Machine
The Netflix Stranger Things (Premium) pinball machine, designed by Brian Eddy with art by Bob Stevlic, was manufactured by Stern Pinball and released in February 2020 as the premium edition of Stern's Stranger Things title, following the Pro edition released a couple of months earlier in December 2019.
Stranger Things (Premium) offers an experience that builds on the Pro edition with additional features: two flippers, ten standup targets, and three slingshots work alongside a magnetic ball lock that suspends balls above the playfield surface. A projector located under the lower apron displays images and animations on the otherwise-white playfield ramps and target surfaces, adding a layer of visual excitement not found on the Pro model, and a magnetic multi-ball lock sits on the playfield's back panel.
The machine's art and design draw on the iconic characters and settings from Stranger Things. A translite is used instead of a traditional backglass, and the cabinet uses a powder-coated steel bottom arch with black wrinkle-finish side armor, hinges, front lockdown molding, and legs, plus decal cabinet artwork and stereo sound. The MSRP at release was $7,699.
