The Mafia
About This Machine
The Mafia, designed by Balint Ats for Team Pinball of Cardiff, Wales, debuted on July 21, 2018. Though the manufacturer initially announced a planned production run of 100 units, only ten machines were ultimately built (plus prototypes), making The Mafia a genuinely scarce modern title.
Notable features include two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots that add excitement to gameplay. The machine also has five standup targets, a spinning target, and a captive ball feature, creating opportunities for high-scoring combos. A mini-post screw between the flippers and standup targets set slightly below playfield level add extra shot-making nuance, and a free ball return lane keeps the action moving.
The Mafia's design and art are equally distinctive, with a reverse-printed overlay on both the playfield and backglass creating an eye-catching visual effect. The Cops and Robbers theme is well-executed for a game with a $7,500 price tag when new. Its extremely limited production run of just ten units makes it a notable rarity in modern pinball collecting.
