Wonder Woman
About This Machine
A rare and intriguing re-theme has emerged from pinball history -- the Wonder Woman machine, which was originally released by Stern in 1978 as 'Lectronamo' before being converted to its current superhero theme. Despite this documented lineage, little is known about who performed the re-theme or when.
Gameplay features are where this machine shines. Two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots create a lively experience, while a 5-bank and a 3-bank of drop targets, plus a spinning target, offer a range of challenges for players to conquer. A kick-out hole and an upper-left kickback lane add complexity and strategy to the layout.
Because it began life as 'Lectronamo,' little independent design history exists for Wonder Woman specifically, leaving much about its conversion to speculation. Nevertheless, its blend of solid-state gameplay features and superhero theming make it an interesting curiosity for collectors interested in re-themed machines.
