About This Machine

The Star Wars (Comic Art Pro), designed by Steve Ritchie with artwork by Randy Martinez, is a 2019 solid-state pinball machine from Stern Pinball. Rather than an all-new title, it is a reissue of Stern's 2017 'Star Wars (Pro)' featuring completely new backglass, playfield, and cabinet artwork rendered in a comic-book style — per the manufacturer, every other aspect of the game, including factory illumination, is unchanged from the 2017 original.

Gameplay includes two flippers, two pop bumpers, three slingshots, nine standup targets, a five-bank drop target, a horseshoe lane with single and dual up-posts, and a scoop, along with a miniature LCD screen on the playfield and a right-outlane ball save. A slingshot mechanism interacts with the two pop bumpers, and the game supports up to six balls in simultaneous play across nine multiball modes and one wizard mode. Toys include a static, illuminating Death Star and an interactive TIE fighter bash toy.

Priced at $5,999 when new, the Comic Art Pro gives fans of Stern's 2017 Star Wars pro model a fresh visual take on an already-established, feature-rich ruleset, distinguished purely by its comic-inspired art package rather than any change to the underlying game.
