About This Machine

'The Beatles' (Diamond Edition) is Stern Pinball's top-tier 2018 release built around the legendary British band, designed by George Gomez with art, playfield, backglass, and cabinet artwork by Christopher Franchi. It's the rarest of the three Beatles editions, with a confirmed production run of just 100 units and a uniquely numbered metal plaque affixed to the lower playfield apron.

The game's rule set was conceived by Gomez working from producer Joe Kaminkow's concept, and its playfield is a heavily reworked version of the layout from Stern's 1980 'Seawitch,' updated with new shots, a guarded target and hidden return on the left, plunger skill shots, a spinning record with a magnet, and a top magnet feed to the bumpers. Play features include four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, eight standup targets, two magnets, two spinning targets, drop targets, a spinning disk, a star rollover, and both 2-ball and 4-ball multiball.

Visually, the Diamond Edition distinguishes itself with a mirrored backglass in place of a translite, along with playfield side wall art blades and back panel illumination. Together with the Gold and Platinum editions, Stern produced 1,964 total units across the three versions of the game -- a nod to 1964, the year The Beatles first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in the United States.
