Deadpool (Premium)
About This Machine
The Deadpool Premium pinball machine, designed by George Gomez and released in 2018 by Stern Pinball, is a standout title in modern pinball history. As one of several licensed theme machines based on popular comic book characters, it showcases the manufacturer's ability to bring beloved franchises to life in a way that appeals to both fans of the source material and enthusiasts of the game itself. With its impressive array of features and innovative design elements, Deadpool Premium has established itself as a must-have for collectors and serious players.
One of the key aspects of this machine is its unique gameplay mechanics. The playfield's layout is designed to simulate the unpredictability and humor that defines the Deadpool character, with features like the spinning targets and electric gates adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement. The use of color LCD displays and dynamic lighting effects further enhances the overall experience, creating a truly immersive environment for players. Another notable feature is the "Boo-M" sequence, where completing the letters in lanes and outlanes lights up the button on the front lockdown bar, which, when pressed, awards a high-lit shot.
The machine's design and art are also noteworthy, with its sleek, black and red color scheme evoking the character's signature aesthetic. The use of translite instead of backglass adds to the overall visual impact, creating a seamless blend between the playfield and cabinet artwork. One interesting aspect worth mentioning is that this machine was released during a period of rapid evolution in pinball design, with manufacturers experimenting with new technologies and gameplay mechanics to keep the game fresh and engaging for players. As such, Deadpool Premium represents an important milestone in the development of modern pinball.
