Feitiço
About This Machine
Feitiço, from Irmacor of Porto, Portugal, is a converted version of Playmatic's 1978 'Chance,' modified with a new backglass bearing Irmacor's logo and with the playfield language changed from English to Portuguese. Reportedly, strict Portuguese laws in the 1970s on importing gambling-adjacent devices led Irmacor to import Spanish-made Playmatic games, modify them, and market them as Portuguese-made products. Its demonic-supernatural theme (the name "Feitiço" translates to "spell" or incantation) sets it apart from more traditional pinball themes of the era.
Gameplay-wise, Feitiço features two flippers, three pop bumpers, and a distinctive layout with two banks of five drop targets, plus a kick-out hole, a stand-up target, and an up-post between the flippers that adds an extra layer of shot-blocking strategy to the game.
As an obscure Portuguese conversion of a Spanish original, Feitiço remains a niche curiosity for collectors interested in regional pinball history and the workarounds manufacturers used to navigate import restrictions of the era.
